Film technology for day / night design
Door trim strips prototype with formable hardcoat film
The formable, UV-curable hardcoat Makrofol® HF film allows the production of back-printed design panels in day/night design with help of the film insert molding (FIM) process. Through screen printing, a variety of designs such as piano black, carbon-look, brushed aluminum and “dead front” effects that only become visible when backlit can be produced.
After printing, it is possible to form the 3D-formable hardcoat film conventionally using the HPF process. Additional UV curing is then performed for final curing. As a result, the film attains the level of scratch and chemical resistance required for a car interior.
