ID Cards

Our polycarbonate film Makrofol® ID enables the incorporation of a whole range of security features in ID Cards. The chemical and physical characteristics of Makrofol® ID make it the ideal material for manufacturing cards. Cards can be personalized either as a relief structure on the surface of the card, or inside the card without modifying the surface. When it comes to cards with an integrated chip for contactless data transfer, the principal criteria in favor of using Makrofol® ID are the material’s unsurpassed durability and high wear resistance.

Using Platilon® thermoplastic polyurethane films it is possible to glue together different types of materials to produce new combination materials, e.g. plastic, paper and metal for multi-layer-structures. When used e.g. for RFID applications (passport systems and ID cards), special properties such as good lamination adhesion and high flexibility provide protection for sensitive connections.
